We are pleased to announce that quality care leader Dr. Bonnie Zell is joining the Delfina team as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Zell previously served as Chief Medical Officer of Lemonaid Health.
Dr. Zell, MD, MPH, FACOG, has worked on key initiatives to promote patient safety and healthcare quality for over 30 years. She developed novel strategies to improve outcomes, lower costs, engage patients, and place them at the center of care, utilizing new models of technology-enabled care.
As Delfina’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Zell will lead the team to create products that support delivery of the highest quality care for pregnant patients. “Delfina is really onto something powerful, focusing on the entire pregnancy journey, wrapping a comprehensive managed care platform around a novel ground-breaking technology, and taking advantage of the power of machine learning,” Dr. Zell said. “As the incoming CMO, I’m very excited to contribute to the development of Delfina to transform care and improve outcomes for mothers and babies.”
Dr. Zell also previously served as Chief Medical Officer of Lemonaid Health, a San Francisco-based telehealth company focused on providing universal access to high-quality, evidence-based, standardized primary care at low costs. She began her career as a registered nurse, and then became an OB-GYN physician chief at Kaiser Permanente. Utilizing her first-hand experience as a clinician, she directed initiatives at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Population Health at the National Quality Forum.

Dr. Timothy Wen, a Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Clinical Informatics Fellow at UCSF, is joining Dr. Zell as Associate Chief Medical Officer. He will use his extensive experience in clinical obstetrics and pregnancy outcomes analyses to lead key research initiatives at Delfina.
Delfina is a company creating a patient-centered and data-driven approach to pregnancy care. The Delfina Care platform uses proprietary predictive models to help care teams understand the risk profiles of patients and optimize care plans to improve maternal and child health outcomes. Delfina's software monitors patient health data and coordinates with care teams so that providers can personalize care for all birthing people and their families.
