Senior Software Engineer - Frontend, React

We’re looking for an experienced frontend software engineer to help us build the apps and systems that run Delfina Care, our intelligent pregnancy care platform.

In this role, you will be the technical lead for our frontend development team. You will contribute directly to our codebase as a developer. And you will provide technical guidance, mentorship, and feedback to the rest of the frontend team.

A successful candidate will be able to jump immediately into writing code for either our React or Flutter codebase, with the expectation that they can mentor engineers in either frontend technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the design and development team to translate wireframes and mockups into fully functional features
  • Contribute immediately to our React or Flutter codebase
  • Lead complex technical or product efforts involving other engineers
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers, across web and mobile
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to industry best practices and coding standards
  • Optimize front end performance to ensure fast and responsive user experiences
  • Collaborate with the backend development team to integrate front end components with backend APIs
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in front end development to propose and implement innovative solutions
  • Take initiative to improve our systems by thinking about software architecture, security, documentation, or whatever else we’re working on -- Delfina is a startup, and we’re looking for engineers who are excited for new challenges

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of a web framework (preferably React) or a mobile application framework (preferably Flutter)
  • 5+ years of experience in frontend development, including concepts like async programming, authentication, and API caching
  • 5+ years of frontend UI development, including concepts like layout, cross browser compatibility, and accessibility
  • 5+ years experience with frontend APIs and optimizing frontend performance
  • Experience in building responsive (mobile-friendly) applications
  • Familiarity with version control systems (git and GitHub)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, including the ability to mentor and collaborate with junior developers
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with our mobile stack: Flutter, Bloc, Cached Query, Firebase, GCP
  • Experience with our web stack: React Query, Redux Toolkit, GraphQL, REST, MUI, Firebase, GCP
  • Experience with Python or Postgres.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, particularly EPIC and Redox
  • Prior experience in the healthtech industry or working on healthcare-related projects.
  • Passion for addressing challenges in maternal health and contributing to solving the maternal health crisis

Delfina offers competitive benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage, unlimited PTO, and 10 weeks fully paid leave for parents of all genders and any parental event including adoption. Compensation awarded to successful candidates will vary based on their work location, relevant skills and experience. The base salary range for US-based candidates is $65,000 - $170,000. International candidates will be considered as well.
